Sudarshan Yellamaraju is in the 2026 Memorial Tournament field. The 24-year-old Canadian was added on Tuesday as the replacement for Jake Knapp, who withdrew from the signature event at Muirfield Village with a thumb injury.
It is a notable opportunity for one of the season’s quiet breakout stories. Yellamaraju, a Korn Ferry Tour graduate, will be making his Memorial debut in a 72-man, signature event that carries a $20 million purse and a stacked leaderboard led by Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.

Yellamaraju earned his PGA Tour card through the developmental Korn Ferry Tour and has made the most of his rookie chances in the big events. He tied for fifth at The Players Championship in March, a result that introduced him to a wider audience, and he backed it up with a tie for sixth at the Texas Children’s Houston Open in the same stretch. This week marks his fourth appearance in a $20 million signature event this season.
Knapp has been dealing with a thumb injury that first surfaced in late April. The ailment forced him to sit out the Truist Championship, the Cadillac Championship, and the PGA Championship, and he has not competed since the RBC Heritage in late April. His withdrawal opened the door for Yellamaraju to slide into the field.

Yellamaraju will be one of the longest shots on the board this week, and that is the point of interest for DFS players rather than outright bettors. In a no-cut signature event, every entrant plays all four rounds, which gives lower-salaried names a built-in floor, but since this is one of the three events with a 36-hole cut, his ownership should come in a bit lower. His Players Championship result shows he can hang inside a strong field, so he profiles as a potential low-owned salary saver if you need to free up cash for the headliners.
Temper expectations on the outright market. Muirfield Village is a demanding ball striker’s test, and this is his first look at the course. For DFS lineups, treat him as a leverage play rather than a core piece, and let your model tell you whether his approach numbers travel to a tougher venue.
