2026 U.S. Open Tee Times – The beauty of the U.S. Open is that it’s truly an open. Any professional or amateur golfer with a handicap index of 0.4 or lower can sign up to compete for a spot in the U.S. Open. For the 2026 tournament, 10,201 entries were accepted, with local qualifying held at 108 sites before the final qualifying events are held in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Players who successfully navigate the final qualifying rounds will join the field alongside those already exempt from qualifying.
Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, located on the east end of Long Island, New York, is one of the most storied and historic venues in American and world golf. Founded in 1891, it was one of the five founding clubs of the United States Golf Association and hosted the second U.S. Open in 1896, which was won by Scotsman James Foulis .
The current course layout, designed by William Flynn in 1931, is situated on open, exposed, links-style land. It is routed to present an equal challenge regardless of the wind direction, and the winds are inevitable.
