Zurich Classic One and Done Strategy

Well, most of the big pools don’t make you choose a golfer this week.

Splash and the Mayo Cup sit this one out, so I’ll be keeping it short and sweet, as this one seems like a pretty easy decision for the most part.  We’ve got a $9.2 million purse. The winning team will each receive $1,329,400 (each), so a bit on the smaller side again with some big ones coming up in the Truist, PGA, and Memorial.

Unless you’re worried about being too chalky and riding with the crowd, you can use Rory for a second time simply by taking Shane Lowry in most pools.  Yeah, he’s going to be uber popular, but unless you’re way down the standings chasing, it may be a good chance to just take the week off and ride the wave to status quo land in the standings.

From a betting standpoint, I’m taking some longer prices and trying to find lighting in a bottle with some teams that have strong ball striking both ways, but as far as one and done goes, it feels dicy going too far down the board here.  With so many variable around best ball and alternate shot that make it difficult to model, I’ve just gone really simple this week and focused in on which teams have the best ball strikers.  It’s not surprise that the two favorites on the betting board have all four golfers in the top ten over the past 12 months in this.
