Round 3 Betting and Showdown Picks – 2022 The Masters

With gusting and swirling winds between 10-30 mph leading to the highest-scoring round of the Masters in the last five years, players had they could handle on Friday at Augusta National Golf Club. While the course played to an average of 2.61 shots over par, Scottie Scheffler make it appear that he was playing a completely different track. Shooting a 5-under 67, the number one player in the world was bogey-free over his final 15 holes and tied the Masters record for the largest 36-hole lead heading into the weekend.

Scheffler holds a five-shot lead over defending champion Hideki Matsuyama, Shane Lowry, Sungjae Im, and 2011 Masters winner Charl Schwartzel. Even bigger contenders such as Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa are within seven shots of the lead.

Tiger Woods continued to amaze, not only by making the cut but also by gaining strokes on the field by shooting a 2-over par 74. He currently sits in a tie for 19th place. With 54 players making the 4-over cut-line, big names like Xander Schauffele and past major champions Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth and Bryson DeChambeau were all sent home packing.

Saturday’s forecast looks to be more of the same with winds between 12-25 mph. Golfers have commented that it is the inconsistent swirling nature of the wind that is making play so difficult. With temperatures not forecast to rise above 50 degrees tomorrow, and the greens firming up by the hour, we could be in for a weekend of carnage at Augusta.
