Jon Rahm did “Jon Rahm” things in Thursday’s opening round of the Mexico Open. He shot a bogey-free 7-under 64 and was in control of every area of his game, gaining at least 0.8 strokes in each of the four strokes gained categories. For as well as he played, he doesn’t have any separation yet on the leaderboard as he shares the lead with five other players.
There was a huge -2.21 stroke edge to the morning wave today. As predicted, between 11-1:30, winds increased from 3 to 14 mph. It should be the same for tomorrow’s second round, meaning that players teeing off in the morning should be targeted for Showdown lineups. Even though Rahm goes out in the afternoon, you should definitely play him.
