RBC Canadian Open Best Bets

Our BetSperts Golf staff has combed through the projections and available lines to identify our favorite bets for the RBC Canadian Open. These are our Best Bets for the weekend.

Aaron Rai Top 40 +135 (DraftKings)

Andy Molitor: A decent bentgrass putter with some good form coming into a tournament with a weakening field.  I have him projected to finish around 28th on average here, but could no seem to locate top 30 markets today. Not long off the tee, but very accurate with both his tee shots and his approach, boasting a very high GIR% over the past two months.  He’s obviously never played here before but has placed in the 20s in three of the past six tournaments including a stellar putting performance last week at the Memorial.

Ron Klos: I think many casual observers don’t realize that Rai is a world-class player who has won multiple events overseas like the Scottish Open in the recent past. Since playing on Tour more consistently this past year he has had some good performances with four top-30s this year. If the putter can spike like it did last week at the Memorial, I agree with Andy: Rai has the tee-to-green game to safely finish in the top-40 and, potentially, even higher.

Tyrrell Hatton Top 20 +125 (Bet365)

Geoff Fienberg: Hatton continues to gain strokes with his approach play week in and week out this season, he also has that around the green/sand save/scrambling capabilities that showed to be crucial in the previous Canadian Open at St. George’s. Hatton, like many of the European golfers in the field, will feel very much at home on this classic tree-lined, Stanley Thompson designed golf course.

Tony Finau Top 20 +100 (BetMGM)

Ryan Noonan: After finally breaking through and finding the winner’s circle at last year’s Northern Trust, I’m guessing, privately, Tony Finau took a massive exhale while removing the monkey off his back. That exhale has shown up in his 2022 play a bit as well. Finau finished top 20 or better in 59% of his 2021 starts and hasn’t fallen below a 39% T20 or better rate since 2016. This year, he’s finished inside the T20 or better in just four of his 18 starts, good for a 22% clip. The arrow is pointing up, though. His ball-striking has been solid and ranks sixth in this field over the past 20 rounds. He’s bagged two T4 or better finishes in his past four events, including a T4 last time out at the Schwab, where he gained strokes throughout the bag. There are better numbers out there, but I default to BetMGM due to their dead heat rules.
