PGA Championships Underdog Pick ’em Plays – Round 1

Underdog Fantasy does a great job of giving us so many different offerings to choose from. From round score to fairways hit, fantasy points to greens in regulation, their offerings are unmatched in the industry. I won’t always do it this way, but it worked last week at Quail Hollow, so I’m going to stick with it. I think the majority of the Bogey or Worse numbers are too short.

Here are the opening-round scores relative to par over the past few PGA Championships.

  • 2023: +3.69
  • 2022: +2.83
  • 2021: +2.77
  • 2020: +1.12
  • 2019: +3.00

The PGA Championship layouts have changed since the event moved from August to May. Although the courses and conditions vary each year, the PGA of America is responsible for setting up each course. Due to this change in timing, there has been a trend resembling U.S. Open results more than past PGA Championship results.

These are some of the more volatile players in the field, and all, with the exception of Sahith Theegala, rank 74th or worse in bogey avoidance over the past six months.

Jordan Spieth – 2.5 Bogeys or Worse – HIGHER

Rickie Fowler – 3.0 Bogeys or Worse – HIGHER

Tom Kim – 3.0 Bogeys or Worse – HIGHER

Sahith Theegala – 2.5 Bogeys or Worse – HIGHER

Min Woo Lee – 2.5 Bogeys or Worse – HIGHER
