Memorial Tournament Best Bets

Our BetSperts Golf staff has combed through the projections and available lines to identify our favorite bets for The Memorial Challenge. These are our Best Bets for the weekend.

Matthew Fitzpatrick Top 20 +100 (BetMGM)

Ryan Noonan: I’ve backed Matthew Fitzpatrick more this season than all other seasons combined. It’s hard not to notice his improvements throughout the bag, and the results have followed. Uncharacteristically poor putting performances at Harbour Town and TPC Sawgrass caused Fitzpatrick to miss the cut, but he’s finished inside the top 18 in each of his past nine made cuts, six of which were T10 or better. He’s added distance off the tee this season, and he’s gained shots on approach in every 2022 start. He also checks the boxes on bogey avoidance (8th on Tour) and Par 5 scoring average (17th) that I’m looking for this week.

Max Homa Top 40 -125 (FanDuel)

Andy Molitor: First off, this is -200 at DraftKings, and that price is probably correct.  This is now a golfer who has won three times in the past 18 months, and is in great form.  He showed an ability to play on tough courses, finishing 13th at The Players.  His irons play and greens in regulation percentage is on the uptick and he checks a ton of boxes for course fit.  On top of it all, he finished 6th here a year ago! The only real dig would likely be his ARG and scrambling stats, but even those are not terrible.  It’s another small field and I don’t see him being in danger of missing the weekend, I think he’s likely getting some TV time on Sunday.

Collin Morikawa Top 20 +110 (BetRivers)

Ron Klos: Finishing 7th overall in my model, Morikawa is one of the elite ball-strikers in this field. With a 2nd place finish here last year along with his victory at the Workday event on this same course back in 2020, this course definitely suits his eye. He has thrived on Jack Nicklaus designed courses (winning at Concession as well), and tends to have spike weeks with the putter in these big events. In two of his last three starts on this course he has gained 5.4 and 4.7 strokes putting respectively.

Daniel Berger Top 30 +120 (Bet365)

Geoff Fienberg: Berger’s pricing this week are reflective of results while battling injury recently, but simply seeing Berger tee it up in back-to-back weeks tells me he’s feeling healthy, especially with US Open only a couple of weeks away. Berger ranked 3rd in approach on Tour last season, and started his 2022 campaign with 5 top 20s in his first 6 events. If you can trust that simply making this start is an indication Berger is feeling like his old self again, then the entire Daniel Berger market represents value this week.

Cameron Champ Top 40 +280 (FanDuel)

John Daigle: Champ most recently missed the cut at the PGA Championship because he drew the wave of tee times most impacted by weather. Take a good look at his form prior to that unfortunate draw and you’ll notice he had hit his stride with three consecutive top-40 finishes including a T10 at Augusta and T6 in Mexico to that point, gaining strokes off the tee in every event since March. I’ll gladly trust him (at great odds) to play and compete into the weekend in Dublin.
