Charles Schwab Challenge Projections Preview

Each week, I share the top 20 players in our model’s projections based on win percentage. I also include reactions to the initial results and context as to why certain players landed higher or lower than the market. Here are the results for this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge:

  • Outside of his T2 finish at the Mexico Open, Tony Finau has struggled in 2022, recording only one other top 20 finish, which came all the way back in January at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. This year, the only strokes gained category that he ranks top ten in is off-the-tee (0.56 strokes gained average). While this is a big part of our model, it’s likely the only thing holding him up and keeping him in the top 20.
  • Jason Kokrak’s form has been great recently, especially off-the-tee, where he ranks third in strokes gained with a 0.76 average over his last 20 rounds. In that same span, he’s 17th in total strokes gained with an average of 1.2, just above players like Collin Morikawa and Abraham Ancer.
