Best Live Outright Adds

With the likes of Jon Rahm and Collin Morikawa sitting on top of the leaderboard after the first round, I don’t believe it’s the wisest strategy to add any live outrights to your betting card. But I will say that there are some really interesting long odds on a few players who can’t be dismissed from contention just yet.

  • Max Homa +20000 (6 shots behind) – I understand six shots is a large amount to make up against the best players in the world, but this is Max Homa. And he has three rounds still to go. And he gained the second most strokes ball-striking on Thursday at 2.9. This number is worth a sprinkle on principle alone.
  • Sam Burns +12500 (6 shots behind) – While not as much value as Homa, with three victories in the last 15 months, Burns knows how to win. All it takes is a couple of eagles on these easy par 5s and a 65 on Friday and he is right back in it.
  • Tom Hoge +4500 (2 shots behind) – Hoge is right in the mix after shooting a first-round 66. He is one of the world’s best wedge/iron players and gained 1.80 on approach on Thursday.

Round 2 Betting Matchups Model

*Strokes Gained Rating (SG RTG) is the key metric that combines all the weighted categories in the model. Some players (or matchups) may not be listed due to not having enough sample size data.
