With softer greens and excellent scoring conditions, a host of players are tied for lead at 5-under after the opening round of the Memorial. It is the second consecutive week where there has been a post first-round logjam on the top of the board — this week with six players including Cameron Young who is seeing his name near the top on a consistent basis. Joining Young are Cameron Smith, K.H. Lee, Luke List, Mackenzie Hughes and Davis Riley.
Players teeing off early on Friday appear to have around a half-stroke advantage based on winds being much calmer between 7 am to 10 am. Winds increase around 11 am. For Thursday’s opening round the morning wave had a 0.82 stroke advantage. I will be mostly targeting earlier players for Showdown lineups.
