The second major of the 2022 season is upon us. The 104th PGA Championship will be held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One of the crown jewels of midwestern golf, Southern Hills is a uniquely classical championship golf course that recently underwent a major “historical restoration” to prepare it for this very moment. Considered one of the top 100 courses in the world, it has hosted 16 championships since 1945.
It should be a thrilling golf tournament with so many interesting factors coming into play. From the difficulty and unpredictability of the course, the potential effects of forecasted high winds, and the best golfers in the world competing against each other, there are almost too many storylines to keep track of this week. Has Tiger Woods recovered enough to contend for his 16th major? Can Scottie Scheffler continue his historically amazing stretch of golf? Can Jordan Spieth clinch the career Grand Slam? Will anyone even be under par by day’s end on Sunday? Thursday can’t come soon enough.
