In what should be a drama-filled Sunday of golf, 16 players are within four shots of the lead. Tomorrow is very important, not only to determine the winner but also the final 70 players who will qualify for next week’s BMW Championship. TPC Southwind is a perfect setup for “chasers” because both birdies and double bogeys are in play on so many of the holes (especially on the back nine).
Similar to Saturday’s round, if you strongly believe (like I do) that the unsuspecting duo of J.J. Spaun and Sepp Straka will fade into the background as the pack chases them down, that means Will Zalatoris (+450) and Cam Smith (+400), both at 11-under are prepared to duke it out. And if we view the “leaders” at 11-under, that also means players like Sungjae Im (+2200), Sam Burns (+2000), Matt Fitzpatrick (+1600), Tony Finau (+1800), Joaquin Niemann (+6600), Joohyung Kim (+5000), Collin Morikawa (+4000), and even Jon Rahm (+8000) are within four shots of that number.
